Dangers of Drowsy Driving
We've all struggled to stay awake while driving and know
how dangerous it can be. That's why we've gone the distance to
gather the data needed to make roads safer.
At the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety, we're dedicated
to helping drivers and everyone on the road worry less.
Drowsy driving can lead to episodes where the driver's brain literally falls asleep for a fraction of a second or even a few seconds.

Microsleep1 can occur in the blink of an eye, but can lead to accidents that affect people for a lifetime.
A three-second microsleep can result in 286 feet of road traveled2 – while asleep. That's nearly the length of an NFL regulation football field.
